December 2010 Our Sept. 3rd MCAS Dinner Event with Admiral William French, U.S. Navy Southwest Regional
Commander, was a great success!
Our Council is doing well, another Year in the books.
We’re working on a project for the Marines. Temperpedic
Mattress Company is trying to give Camp Pendleton 85 Queen size mattresses (a truck load); all we need now is
money around $7,000.00 for a truck to deliver them, any suggestions?
July 2010 Our Sept. 3rd dinner event will be in the ballroom at the Miramar Officer’s
Club. Admiral William French, U.S. Navy Southwest Regional Commander, will be our Speaker. There will be at
least one Surprise Guest. If I tell you who it is we would not have a room big enough to accommodate the people
who would like to meet this man! The Coast Guard Cutter Haddock is getting a New Skipper, Lt. Brittingham, is
going on, we wish him great success in his future. We will meet the new Lt. at the September dinner event.
April 2010 A lot is happening this Spring with the Tri-City Council. We have two new Community Affiliates Classic Chariots
and Navy Federal Credit Union, Carlsbad CA. These two community affiliates and our other Tip Top Meats, we are
assured of greater participation and support of our council and Sea Cadets.
We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming dinner event which will feature Major General Anthony L.
Jackson. We will be giving awards to our Coast Guard Cutter Haddock Sailor of the Quarter and our leading Sea
Cadet Award to our TopGun and Gunfighter Squadron.

Medical Training School at Camp Pendleton.

students at the High School’s in Oceanside. Classic Chariots has generously let us co-sponsor three teams in the
Camp Pendleton Mud Run in June. One of the Teams will be our Coast Guard Haddock Crew. If any members are
interested in volunteering at any of these or future events please call President Chuck Baumbach, 760-942-4100 or
email him at chuckgb1@aol.com.
October 2009 The story of the Flying Leatherneck Museum got told, and Chuck Baumbach, Board member brought some
handouts for potential new Navy League members.
Sgt. Major Zacker, USMC Retired was our host and guide for the tour. He did an outstanding job of telling the
story, injecting some personal experiences, and keeping it as entertaining as it was educational.
The Sea Cadets looked smart in their Whites, and helped Sgt. Major introduce some of the aircraft. All did an excellent job!
Thank you Robert Johnson Board Member for coming up with such a wonderful event.
July 2009 This time of year we have the opportunity to celebrate the many accomplishments of our military and our
country. From Memorial Day, Flag Day, D-Day anniversary to Independence Day we are given the
opportunity to thank the men and women in uniform that have served and currently serve to allow us to
celebrate. It is imperative that we take time to reflect on the events that led to the creation of these
special days. We can never lose focus on the sacrifices of our Armed Forces, and we must continue to
be vigilant and steadfast in our support of them. Semper Fidelis. Chip
April 2009 Spring is in the airl
Time to put away the sweaters and dust off the flip-flops. As spring approaches, your Navy League stands ready
to continue to serve the sea service community. Your Board of Directors is working hard to provide quality events
in order to showcase the talents of our young men and women in uniform. Currently in the works is a tour of the
Air Museum at Miramar, an awards presentation for the Marine JROTC in Oceanside and a summer dinner
banquet. Through your continued support we can show our warriors that their nation stands behind them. I ask
you to please tell a friend about us, bring a friend to our events, and make a friend during these events.
Semper Fidelis! Chip Dykes, Tri City Council President
December 2008 As the holidays fast approach it is time for us to stop and give thanks. We all have our individual reasons to be thankful however, we as a nation have a collective reason to pause and give thanks. The stellar service of our men and women in uniform continues to provide the blanket of freedom we sleep under. As evidenced by our recent elections, the voice of democracy bellows loud and proud. Your Tri-City Council has been hard at work planning events to show our appreciation for our sea service families. We need your continued support to keep the American people informed of the importance of national defense and the role the sea services play. You can show this support by attending the Navy League events throughout the year.
Semper Fidelis! Chip Dykes
October 2008 July we attended the Change of Command of our adopted Coast Guard Cutter Haddock. Also in July, we enjoyed our member dinner held at MCAS Miramar.
We were privileged to have Congressman Brian Bilbray
present, Tom Richards (National Commander, Legion of Valor) and veterans who have served from World War II to today!
Our guest speaker, Capt Tom Hejl (USN-Retired), the former CO of the USS Kitty Hawk on September 11, 2001 gave an energetic presentation on the state of our active duty Navy. He gave keen insight to recent acts of bravery during a fire onboard the USS George Washington, and surprised the crowd as he presented two of the active duty heroes that were in attendance at our dinner! Please read more in the Log.
As we move to the fall and winter, we look forward to another dinner event along with our upcoming tour of HMH-361 at MCAS Miramar. Our Sea Cadets are back in session and always enjoy a visit from their Navy League supporters. I welcome all input from the membership for new event ideas and open our board to any interested party that is willing to serve!

December 2007 I recently read that between STATUS QUO and PROGRESS reside these two words, WHY NOT. So as we approach the end of 2007 and set plans for
2008 I say to my fellow Navy Leaguer's, WHY NOT. WHY NOT help us grow our membership by asking your friends and relatives to join the Navy League. WHY NOT become more of a participating member by getting involved as a board member or chairing a committee or volunteering to lend a hand. WHY NOT promote the sea services by writing an inspirational message that we could print in our log or on our website.
